The men and women of South Placer Fire Firefighters Local 3809 are involved in the community in more ways than one.

Life Jacket Loan Program
Members of the South Placer Firefighters Local 3809 have brought the Life Jacket Loan Program to South Placer Fire. The Department of Boating and Water Ways started the Life Jacket Loan Program two years ago. In an attempt to prevent drownings in local waterways, South Placer Fire joins Sac Metro Fire, Sacramento City Fire, Elk Grove Fire, Folsom Fire and Roseville Fire in supporting the effort by the Department of Boating and Waterways to try and reduce the number of drownings in the greater Sacramento and Placer County areas.
The South Placer Fire District responds into the Folsom lake area on the Placer County side of the lake. The firefighters of South Placer see several drownings a year and seized the opportunity to support the effort.
Since South Placer Firefighter's have began the life jacket loan program, the fire district has been pleased that many of the community has already sought out using the free service. Life Jackets are available at all staffed South Placer Fire Stations and should the personnel at the station be away on a call, the next closest station is ready to loan out the jackets.
"Fill-the-Boot" Drive
South Placer Firefighters Local 3809 has had the pleasure of being involved in “Fill the Boot” drives for many years now. In 2005 Roseville and South Placer Firefighters raised $15,064.91. The money raised at the boot drive will be given to the Firefighters Burn Institute to aid in the treatment of burn victims.

Firefighter's Kids Camp
The money given to the Firefighters Burn Institute also helps in putting on the Firefighter's Kids Camp which is held every year for a week in South Lake Tahoe at Camp Concord. This camp gives these kids a chance to be themselves and be around other burn survivors. The kids get to participate in many activities such as arts and crafts, crawdading, fishing, bicycling, going for a breakfast cruise around the lake on the M.S. Dixie paddleboat, climbing the rock wall, and participating in skits around the campfire with their cabin just to name a few. This camp is for burn survivors and the siblings of burn survivors. Members of South Placer Firefighters Local 3809 have joined up with firefighters from Sacramento and the surrounding areas to be counselors at this camp and find the experience very rewarding.
